Tomorrow is Saint Valentine’s day, let’s talk about LOVE.
According to me, the 14th of February is too much commercial. You don’t need to wait a celebration to declare your love to your half, right? But it’s the period of flowers, red hearts everywhere, so kind of cute… Until I don’t have to see a baby wearing for only clothes a nappy, carrying a bow and an arrow. There is Robin Hood for the hunter mode 😉
Declare your love can simply be done by daily little actions like bringing the breakfast to bed on a Sunday morning (guys, this is for you :)) or putting the beers in the fridge for a football night (girls, this is for you :)).
For others, it’s a common action like locking a padlock with their names on a bridge as a symbol of the link between them.
It is a cute way to show your love but unfortunately, there are consequences…
There are many bridges or even places around the world where you can see this symbol of love.
In Cologne, on the Hohenzollernbrücke, there were more than 40,000 padlocks counted in 2011. I talked about it here.
In Paris, it is the Pont des Arts.
In Braga, near the Bom Jesus, on the top of the cliff, you can see some of them too.
Unfortunately, this act is getting so important than the structure of some bridges can be impacted.
In Paris, a bridge rail collapses in 2014 under the weight generated by the padlocks.
In Cologne, they are thinking to remove some of them due to the weight which can weaken the bridge where trains run.
If you want to be sure that your symbol of love does not disappear or generate an accident, maybe think to do something different 😉
But don’t stop to show your love, keep the magic of it and I wish you a wonderful day with your half or if you are single, enjoy it with friends.
Personally I will spend a girly weekend with friends in Frankfurt, Germany.
